My laptop’s screen has gone completely black, no faint image?
Here is my problem, I have an Acer Aspire 6530 G, and i bought it about a year ago. I use it very frequently, closing it and opening it all the time, and recently, my screen went completely white, and when i turned off the computer and turned it back on, the screen was black, completely black with no faint image. I hooked it up through the VGA to an external monitor, that worked fine, but my catylyst control center for my graphics card didnt detect a screen hooked up to my latpop. I opened it up and saw that the lcd cord was plugged into the power cord, and the inverter was pluged in also. Im wondering what my options are. Im guessing it has to be the cord being damaged near the hinge because that hinge has received some trauma, but that was almost a week before the screen went white. I still have the laptop disasembled, so any help would greatly be apreciated
If you don’t see any trauma to the wiring harness, even though the hinge was damaged, it is probably not the wiring harness. What you need to do however, is remove the screen from the lid, and check the entire harness, and the connection to the LCD panel itself. If everything checks out fine, then you are looking at a Bad LCD panel. You know it isn’t your onboard video, because it works on an external monitor. You know it isn’t your Inverter, because as you say, there is no faint image. So, however unlikely, it is possible that the LCD panel was damaged in the impact, and it took that long to go.
The problem is, you can’t test this without a new LCD panel.
